Fire‑approved electric strike with fixed cut-out for manually lockable doors
STEP 98 Preload features a fixed cut-out designed to work with the lock case’s hook bolt or deadbolt, enabling mechanical blocking of the door’s access control system, keypad, or door automation. This allows the strike to effectively disable electronic access when the bolt is engaged, a smart solution for doors that should be lockable via thumbturn or key.
Its compact size and STEP Preload technology offer simple installation and reliable performance. Ideal for use on toilets or other doors where you want to manually engage the deadbolt for added security.
For door environments with fire requirements
Certified in fire technical class E/EI120 acc. to EN 14846.
With patented STEP Preload technology
Modern door environments place high demands on sound insulation, indoor climate and fire requirements. This requires tightly sealed doors, which in turn results in high preload pressure.
Several factors can further increase the strain on the lock, such as unsynchronized door automation, snow or gravel on the threshold, or a slightly warped door.
STEP Preload technology ensures that STEP 98 Preload can unlock even under preload pressures of up to 40 kg. This patented technology withstands comparison and sets the standard for the entire industry.
Optional bolt position indicator
STEP 98 Preload can be equipped with a bolt position indicator. The indicator can automatically disable the access control system, code lock or door automation when the lock case’s dead bolt or latch bolt has been mechanically locked.
STEP dead bolt indication ST4880 to be installed together with STEP 48 or STEP 98 Preload Electric Strike and suitable faceplate. The height of the faceplate must be at least 245 mm.
High flexibility and easy installation
STEP 98 Preload is available in fail-secure, fail-safe, or adjustable function. The adjustable version makes it easy to change the function on site, which simplifies inventory and reduces installation costs. The strike is reversible and fits both left- and right-handed doors. Available with or without bolt contact.

Electric strike STEP 98 Preload
Fire-resistant electric strike with STEP Preload technology and fixed cut-out
STEP 98 Preload is a fire-resistant electric strike with a fixed cut-out that allows the lock case’s deadbolt or latch bolt to fully extend. This makes it possible for the strike to mechanically block the access control system, code lock or door automation. Swedish premium quality, flexible installation options and STEP Preload technology ensure high operational reliability and easy installation.
