– a surface mounted lock in minimal design

STEP 8 is a perfect solution where a lock is to be installed afterwards or where you can not or do not want to install a recessed lock, for example, due to space considerations, in doors where there is asbestos or in doors with high cultural value.

The lock can be used as a replacement for magnetic locks and is combined with door automation and/or fire alarms. It can be mounted vertically or horizontally on both single and double doors.

Quick and easy assembly

The installation is very easy. No changes need to be made to the existing recess.

 

STEP’s patented Preload-technology

A common problem is that a door is subjected to pressure, for example, because the door is a little skew or that gravel or snow has gathered at the doorstep. STEP 8 Secure is equipped with STEP’s patented Preload technology that allows the door to unlock, even if subjected to pressures
of up to 150 kg.

Wide range of applications

STEP 8 consists of two sturdy parts, a hook mounted on the door leaf and and an electrical strike in a bracket mounted directly on the underside of the frame.

Depending on where STEP 8 is supposed to be mounted there are several different accessiories too choose from.

 

Fail safe function for doors with evacuation requirements

With the fail safe function, STEP 8 is used for evacuation doors with evacuation terminals or emergency opening buttons. The lock can withstand a preload of up to 150 kg, which allows a safe evacuation. STEP 8 is also available with fail secure function.

  • Microswitch unipolar changeover, max. 30 V DC, 1A.
  • Built-in protective diode.

  • Break resistance 9 kN (≈ 900 kg).
  • Ensures opening despite preload up to 1,5 kN (≈ 150 kg) in fail secure and fail safe functions.

Power consumption 0 mA for rotating cam at rest (fail secure = locked, fail safe = unlocked)

Max 300 mA at 24 V DC / 600 mA at 12 V DC for 0.2 seconds to ensure the need for locking or unlocking in special events.
